Come to the studio and enjoy learning to make unique, beautiful and practical platters in our lovely light and airy studio near Chichester in West Sussex. 1st session - 2.5 Hours Learn how to slab clay ready to decorate with texture from our extensive range of texture rollers, wood block stamps and hand designed sprigs. Using templates to shape, learn to shape the slabs into platters using handmade and commercial moulds. At the end of this session you should have achieved 3-4 different sized platters with unique texture . 2nd session - 2.5 Hours This session is all about the finish. Learn how to smooth out the edges for a professional finish to your platters. Apply underglaze colours or oxides if required before your work is dried ready for its first firing (biscuit firing). 3rd session - 2.5 Hours Time to glaze your pieces in colours of your choice from our extensive range of brush on Amaco glazes (two weeks later to allow for biscuit firing). All inclusive price includes all clay and equipment, biscuit firing, glaze and glaze firing. All tuition, equipment, tools, clay and glazes will be provided to allow you to unleash your creativity. The aim is to produce 3-4 pieces of work that can then be finished at the second session, returning two or three weeks later once your pieces are dried and biscuit fired for glazing. We aim to get your glazed work through the kiln for you to collect about 2-4 weeks after the glazing session. Fun and informative – always great with a friend.
